mPharma is a venture-backed technology startup company with a simple mission: Make prescription drugs in emerging markets easily accessible, and easily affordable.  

We’ve partnered with major pharmaceutical manufacturers, insurance companies, financial institutions and Ministries of Health to deliver medicines directly into the hands of consumers in these underserved markets. Through our innovative e-prescription tools, doctors, patients and pharmacists gain access to both a network of high quality, affordable prescription drugs, and the support to ensure that the drugs are being used appropriately and effectively.

We are a multidisciplinary team comprising of medical professionals, managers, designers, and programmers from Africa and beyond, brought together by a shared passion for improving access to medicine. Overview
At mPharma, we start and end our day thinking about how we can enable patients to afford their medications. We’re a small but growing team of 30+ members, headquartered in Accra, Ghana, backed by mission driven users. We’ve joined hands with third party payers, drug manufacturers and healthcare providers to develop product and services that directly reduce the costs of prescription drugs for patients. In only a few months, we’ve managed to provide low-cost, high-quality medicines to tens of thousands of patients across three African countries (Ghana, Nigeria, Zambia).

Position Description
mPharma is seeking a product manager to work with our Mutti squad. In this role, you’ll be responsible for defining, releasing, and evangelizing consumer facing products and tools that facilities need Everything we do at mPharma is for the patient, and you will be at the forefront of this relationship. In this role, you will partner with engineering, UX, finance, and supply chain leadership across mPharma to ensure every patient can afford the products they need. You’ll be responsible for identifying the highest impact work, prioritizing that work, and delivering features and functionality in a reliable way.

You’ve got a history of working on consumer products. You have your ear to the ground and are great at uncovering needs across the organization before they become emergencies. You may have worked on consumer apps, as a healthcare professional, or as a project manager. You have a deep understanding of how to create products based on user-identified needs, and you’re also able to discover and innovate on unnamed needs, as well. You understand how to turn technical capabilities into extensible feature sets and know how to drive adoption of those features across a new user base. This position reports directly to the Chief Product Officer and can be based in Accra.

Responsibilities

  • Build the product strategy and roadmap for patient facing solutions.
  • Partner with colleagues in other product pillars and infrastructure to ensure that Mutti meshes seamlessly with other products and the rest of the organization.
  • Define and meet clear SLAs for deliveries to patients — know when to invest in reliability and performance and when to build new features.
  • Partner with finance and data analysts  to understand patient financial behavior and how to build products tailored to their needs
  • Own features and prototype plans end-to-end, including writing product specs, driving cross-functional execution, making thoughtful product decisions along the way, and sharing insights and results throughout the company.

Requirements

  • Depth of experience working on consumer  products. You can take business requirements, mesh them with user needs, and turn them into a roadmap of features and research with minimal guidance.
  • Impact focus and a consistent history of delivering measurable results for both users and the business.
  • Data-minded whenever possible. You deeply understand how your products work and how to measure long-term impact. You know how to balance quantitative usage data with deep user insights. You are comfortable with quantitative and qualitative research, how to interview people in a structured way, and produce and share learnings from your process.
  • Reliable and consistent. You maintain clear documentation, a prioritized backlog, and communicate accurate dates and milestones.
  • Ability to think big and small. You build incremental features and prototypes in service of a larger vision.
  • Product taste and craftsmanship. You will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of how we interact with patients on a day to day basis.
  • Leadership. You know how to influence people to get things done across any job function. People love working with you.
  • Written communication that is clear and effective.

Preferred Experience

  • B.A. or M.A. (preferred)  in Computer Science, Economics, Anthropology, Business Management, Communications. Or M.A in UX Research, Product Design, Business Administration
  • Experience building consumer application. You may have experience working on a design or finance team.
  • Experience in the African region is a plus.
